Client Brief
The client required a showroom that reflects Toyota’s brand identity while offering a welcoming and relaxed environment for customers. The space needed to accommodate vehicle display, customer seating, and interaction zones without feeling cluttered or overly commercial.
Design Approach
With no major civil modifications, the design focused on transforming the existing volume through materiality, lighting, and spatial zoning. Instead of treating the showroom as a purely display-driven space, the layout was structured to encourage longer customer engagement. Seating areas were integrated within the display zone to create a more informal and approachable experience. A restrained base palette was introduced to keep the focus on the vehicles, while strategic interventions such as customised wall treatments and lighting were used to add identity and visual depth without overwhelming the space.
Key Design Elements
-
Statement Lighting Installation:
Custom red suspended light fixtures act as a strong visual anchor, subtly referencing the brand while adding character to the otherwise neutral space.
-
Customised Brand Wallpapers:
Curated wall graphics were designed to showcase Toyota’s legacy, iconic models, and brand narrative. These elements function as both visual interest and storytelling tools, creating a more immersive customer experience.
-
Integrated Customer Lounge:
Informal seating clusters are placed within the display area, allowing customers to interact, wait, and engage comfortably without being isolated from the showroom environment.
-
Material Palette Strategy:
A combination of neutral flooring, textured brick-finish walls, and dark ceiling elements creates contrast while ensuring the vehicles remain the primary highlight.
-
Open Display Layout:
The absence of rigid partitions maintains visual continuity across the space, enhancing openness and ease of movement.
-
Display & Retail Integration:
Accessory display shelving is seamlessly integrated into the design, maintaining functionality without disrupting the overall aesthetic.
Outcome
The showroom transitions from a standard vehicle display space into a more refined, experience-driven environment. The integration of storytelling elements like customised wallpapers, along with thoughtful spatial planning, enhances both customer engagement and brand perception.
